Porsche 935 Twin-Turbo
Third, 1979 Le Mans 24 Hours
Driven by Ferrier, Trisconi & Servanin

The Kremer team had naturally focused most of their energy on the new K3-bodied cars they brought. However, the Kremer brothers had entered a third 935 in the classic race. Still wearing its Vaillant colors, the ex-Bob Wollek 935 wearing #40 was present largely to gain its pilots some experience and enjoyment! Nobody expected the French trio to do so well!

One of eight 935s in Group V, Laurent Ferrier had set the fastest time for the #40 car. François Servanin started the race, and Trisconi took the wheel just before the 2 hour mark. An hour later François Trisconi got in the #40 935 and set off on course but just 30 minutes later was back in with a tire that had burst. Thankfully, there was no sign of damage and he was back out and racing after a very brief stop.

With the exception of a 49-minute stop to replace a rear half-shaft, the event went as smoothly for the trio as any other team still in the running!

The skies opened just before 2:00am and the pit lane became a relatively crowded place while teams hurriedly substituted rain tires in place of slicks. Having climbed from 20th to 6th place before the rain fell, they were too invigorated with the sense of accomplishment to let a little rain spoil their run and the trio did very well to drive #40 carefully and consistently around Le Circuit lap after lap, working their way up to an incredible 3rd place finish overall, just two laps shy of the second placed #70 Hawaiian Tropic car!
